Simple data conditions or rules may be used to cause box color, shape and layout to change as data values are modified. The Auto Conditional Format feature is accessed on the Data tab.
Smart Fields
Smart Fields give graphical indicators of your HR data, making it easier to understand and visualize.
A Smart Field will instantly display an image or text value based on changing a box’s data. In this example we will display one of nine graphics based upon values placed in two data fields: performance (values 1-3) and potential (values 1-3). As these values are changed the graphic will instantly change.

Slice and dice your HR data and create on-the-fly reports.
The Dynamic Reports feature enables you to create data sort, filter, groupings and summaries. Whatever data has been imported can be easily retrieved, computed and presented.
Compare Plans with Side-by-Side Chart Visualization
See the difference between before and after versions of the organization so you achieve your goals.
Evaluate before and after organizational plans with Side-by-side chart visualization –charts can be visually compared (1) as before and after scenarios. A comparison report can also be generated that shows the differences (2) at the record and field levels.
Easier Data Cleansing/Orphan Processing
OrgChart has the tools to help you identify anomalies and fix your HR data.
It’s not unusual for a company’s HR data source to need some cleanup, and OrgChart makes it easy to do so. Data cleansing tools identify records missing supervisor connections and stores them in a staging area (1) for identification and resolution. Records may be dragged into position on the chart to correct missing hierarchies.
New Planning Staging Area
Now it’s easy to move people anywhere within a chart. The new staging area gives you the ability to model any organization scenario.
Reassigning individuals or entire groups of employees is easy using the Staging & Planning view. You can remove boxes from a chart and place them in a temporary staging area until you decide where you want to insert them in the organization structure. Rearranging people into different jobs or groups is made very simple.
New Personnel Profile Views with Conditional Formatting
The Personnel Profile view allows for a detailed view of the employee.
OrgChart brings a new level of ease of use and aesthetics to the job of org charts. This view also enables justification of field values. Notice that field names are in a left column and the field values are in the right column. Personnel details are easier to read and recognize.
Manage Changes to the Organization with the Change Tracking Feature
Identify changes to the chart with a complete audit trail of what changed, when it was changed and who made the change.
When using OCP for planning, an option to identify any changes to chart data will be logged in a Track Changes window. The user can see which changes have been made, what the changes are, and who made them. The user can proceed to generate approval reports (Personnel Change Notification) for each position. These reports will show what change has occurred and the reason for the change.
So when the user is finished they have both the new chart and an audit trail of all changes.
You will know:
- People or positions added
- Changes to any individual
- Separation of employees
- Person who made the change
- In addition to the Personnel Change reports there is also an option to export the log to excel.
Maintain an Approved Audit Trail with Personnel Change Authorization Reports
Approval forms are generated when changes to the organization are made. Now you can know that any changes to the chart are documented and approved by the appropriate manager.
A document is created for processing any personnel changes, terminations or new hires. The document is presented in Microsoft Word format showing before and after values and also contains fields for a manager’s explanation and an approval signature.
